Saturday morning, Charlie and me are having breakfast, per usual. We touch base about our plans for the weekend (a baked bean supper that night) and what chores we have on our lists for the day. After, Charlie does the dishes, per usual, and I start in on my weekly house cleaning. Then, off he goes to the dump. The Joy of House Projects

Every house project takes at least two, three, four times longer than you think it’s going to. The box that says “all parts included” is lying. You dive into repairing that little bit of rot outside the front door and discover it’s the tip of the iceberg. And don’t even get me going on window treatments and paint chips! Experience has taught me that if Charlie’s going to be attempting one of these little chores, it’s best if I’m out of the house. Kitchen Faucet Dilemma

A kitchen faucet is something that you use a lot, right? So when it’s running slow, it can be a real pain in the patootie. There you are, wanting a cup of tea, and it takes forever get enough water in the teapot. I mean, you have time to take a nap. It may be irritating to me, but poor Charlie sees that slow running faucet as his own personal failure as a husband.
