Winter for a Minute, Then Spring Again

May 3, 2021|Ida's Blog

Have you had these weird thick, white rain events? (I refuse to call it snow.) They’ve stopped now, I hope. But I got caught in one a couple weeks ago. I was driving to see dad and all of a sudden, I’m in a white, whirling mess and can hardly see. Only lasted about two minutes.

Still, it left me feeling strange and unsettled. I hate seeing white stuff on the daffodils and forsythia. ‘Course it’s spring in Maine. Anything can happen. Spring, winter, spring all in one day (or even one hour) is par for the course. Happened to Charlie last week while he was walking Scamp.

Snow Squall

Snow squall bearing down on me
Jesus! I can hardly see
Where I’m goin’, snow is blowin’
Glad I’m not up in a tree!

Like that guy with his chainsaw there
Twenty feet up in the air
No time, Jim, for cutting limbs
Get your butt on down from there!

Our winter stuff’s all put away
For heaven’s sake, it’s almost May!
Daffodils and birdy trills
I mowed the lawn the other day!

It’s late to see this kind of snow
And though I’m plastered, head to toe
This winter blast should be its last
We’re oh, so done with that, you know?

That’s it for now. Catch you on the flip side!
