Charlie and me have never really been great sleepers, and that certainly hasn’t improved with age. I usually wake up every couple of hours. I get up to pee and go right back to sleep, most of the time. Unless I start thinking, of course. A few nights ago, I slept for three straight hours. I got so excited about it, I had a hard time getting back to sleep. Luckily, I’m a good napper.
Charlie’s the same. He didn’t used to pee all that much during the day, then he’d make up for it at night. Now, he has to peed almost as much as me, day and night.
We try not to disturb each other when we get up, but honey, we have to start paying more attention. Case in point.
Aren’t We a Pair?
Got out of bed
I needed to pee
And she did the same
A bit before me
In the dark we collided
Down we both went
Did that wake us up?
One hundred percent!
“I’m sorry!” she said,
“Thought you were asleep!”
“That’s what I thought,
I did not hear a peep.”
Meanwhile I still
Had to visit the can
I pushed myself up
And once I could stand
I bee-lined it there
With a cramp in my neck
“Hang on,” I told her,
“I’ll just be a sec”
When I returned
To the bedroom I said,
“You still on the floor?”
“No, I’m in bed”
“You get at all hurt?
No bruises, I pray?”
She yawned and rolled over
“Nah, I’m OK”
We’re just like two ships
That pass in the night
Two ships without any
Lights burning bright
Headlamps would help
Maybe a flare
What do you think?
Aren’t we a pair?
That’s it for now. Catch you on the filp side!
