Moving too fast is usually my MO. Just like my mom, I’m pretty quick on my feet and pride myself on multitasking to the max. Scamp, who tends to be right on my heels, has to have good reflexes. I’m forever almost trampling him as I quickly change direction because I remembered something else I needed to do or something I forgot in another room. Poor little fella always looks startled, and I admit every once and awhile a word not meant for Scamp’s sensitive ears escapes my mouth because I’m startled, too.
Now Charlie’s not what I’d call a multitasker, and is usually good at concentrating on the chore at hand. He’s methodical and focused. Unless he’s been working too much, not taking enough time out for fun. I’ll let him tell you about it.
Movin’ Too Fast
Getting bit by your screwgun is out of the norm
I yelled and I hollered and cussed up a storm
It hurt like a bastard, bled a bit, too
I had to quit working, what could I do?
The thing is a mess, it needs to be dressed
I did what I could, my wife did the rest“What were you doing?” she’s shakin’ her head
Building a shelf, for out in the shed
“Apart from the screwin’, though, what were you doin’?
“Moving too fast?” Movin’ too fast
Yup, I just wanted to get the thing done
Then hop on my ski-do and have me some fun
But no, the project became a production
One little shelf nearly led to destruction
Home repair, home repair, always the same:
More of a battle than some kind of game
Throw in an injury, say to your hand
And that kinda tanks all the fun you had planned
Time to sit back, watch the puck getting passed
Them young bucks are better at movin’ too fast.
And that’s the deal with moving too fast, right? You’re not in the moment. You’re racing ahead in your mind and accidents happen: an trampled paw, a cut hand, a cup of coffee spilled across the counter as you grab it to head out the door. And those mishaps actually cost you more time than if you’d been going a little slower. Good to know. Harder to do.
That’s it for now. Catch you on the flip side!
